For those who have sight, our ability to see is our common thread, yet we have a different perspective, different points of view, different angle. The gift of sight and mind are incredible.
It is my dream to be able to see like a bee or hummingbird with only one thing in mind, to be a keystone species. The bee having a thousand eyes can see the world differently. They can see a much broader range of colors. The hummingbirds can detect which flower has the most nectar. These creatures can see ultraviolet lights. Imagine if you can see like them.
Whichever way I look outside, the growth of highrise buildings is popping like mushrooms. This year, I am growing cosmos on my balcony.
My next-door neighbor is just over the top when it comes to having a garden on her balcony. When I was downsizing, she received plenty of garden tables, racks, pots, and a hummingbird feeder.
It’s good to see the new tenant across from us joined in by adding a hummingbird feeder as well.
And a co-op building that used to be for “mature folks only” that is visible from my balcony has accepted younger tenants that is another haven for birds and bees.
Some balconies just have a feeder due to some limitations on tenants. At least, they can enjoy the hummer coming to visit them.
I remember how it all started posted here. To add to the story, my dear friend next door one day apologized to me when I returned from my annual pilgrimage that she stole my hummingbird. While I was gone, she decided to put feeders as well. I just smiled and said: You are actually helping me. And so is the rest of the neighborhood.
I love seeing apartment balconies that have been dressed up for summer. I too would want to put out bird feeders. Unfortunately, it would be irresponsible since I have an outdoor cat. He would likely love the attraction but ….
Oh yes, keep the cat away from the feeders!
If only he knew … he would think I don’t love him because we don’t have one for his entertainment 😏
A beautiful and clever angles to view the beauty of nature, Perpetua. Wonderful to have neighbors who love flowers and umm birds.
These are our ‘hanging garden’. Thank you, Amy.
My brother has a hummingbird feeder in the mountains where he lives. They are amazing little creatures and very difficult to photograph! But I enjoyed watching them very much. Interesting way to weave the challenge with the message Perpetua!
When I was in Colorado mountain, the hummers tried to feed on me because I was wearing red pullover 😳I thought I was being attacked but The Birds aka Hitchcock.
There are some very beautiful displays in your neighborhood!
Aha! You are a hummingbird, Kate. I must say, the hummers decided to stay all year round.
Very nice!
Thanks.
