The view from the balcony of the hotel I stayed at in Nanaimo, BC was spectacular on a fall day. Here I could see the bursting of colors and any floating vessels that enters the water between the two islands.
During the 1800’s this structure was the tallest building called the Bastion, a station post built by Hudson’s Bay Company. The main purpose of the post was to defend the company’s workers from any potential marauders and attackers.
The Bastion is now a monument with daily firing of cannon at noon during summer and fall seasons.
Beautiful!
